In 1797 the royal government began making small change of copper again, which they had not done for about 40 years.</p><p><br /></p><p>The man who produced that official coinage in 1797 was Matthew Boulton, at his Soho Mint near Birmingham.&nbsp; Pictured below is a token manufactured by Matthew Boulton.
