I'm guessing this coin I have is a fake, but I was wondering what other people's more informed opinions might be on this. Maybe, as a fake (which is what I think), someone knows from where? My grandmother gave it to me when I was a kid in the 1980s. I have no idea where she got it.
It looks to be a cast replica of the original token seen here: http://www.coinfacts.com/colonial_coins/washingtonia/1792_wa_large_eagle_with_stars.htm
i found a little something on this token. it says there are only 12 examples in copper and 10 in silver. also if you compare pictures, yours looks like a reproduction. i hope the information i found is wrong and someone proves it to be real and worth something. but this is just what i could dig up. http://www.coinfacts.com/colonial_coins/washingtonia/1792_wa_large_eagle_with_stars.htm
Cloest thing to it that I found is this: http://coinauctionshelp.com/washingtonpieces_hancockpatterncent.html
I found the same coin at a playground around 1970. I have always been curious about its history. Real/fake, where it came from, ? ? ?
