The Muzn Commission would go to the mints to check the purity of the silver being used and check the weights of the coins. Many dies would be re-engraved or replaced. When new dies had to be engraved, the design would change some. This is time to find the varieties. </p><p><br /></p><p>The second &amp; third photos shows the 2/3rd Thaler variety during the 1789 Munz Commission visit at the Brunswick mint in Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. The large Horse and the Small Horse came to be during the Munz Commission mint visit. The mint workers I bet didn&#039;t like seeing the Commission show up. Heads would roll if the commission found the purity of the metals being used for the coinage and weights for the coins were not to the standard&#039;s they needed to be.&nbsp; </p><p><br /></p><p>This 1788 1/6th Thaler was minted during the Muzn Commission.
