When my children were young, they saw me 'working' with my very modest coin collection from when I was a kid in the 50's and 60's. In an attempt to get them interested in the hobby, I showed them my copy of this 'Continental Curency' piece. It is a very poor casting of the original, with very poor definition of the States/Colonies names within the circles, done in a medium to represent pewter, I assume. Anyway, I asked them to help me learn more about this 'coin' and, since I worked for Xerox at the time, I made them each a copy to assist in their research. Within a few days, they sat outside the garage waiting for me to come home from work, because their research had determined that we were now RICH!!! If this 'masterpiece was pewter, "Dad, it's worth over $10,000.00!!! If it's silver", they screamed, "it's worth over $1,000,000.00!!!" I know it was cruel of me to do this to them, but is there anything more beautiful than the excitement of a child at Christmas? That's what it was like! My apologies for boring you with this ancient memory.
