Hello everyone I wantwanted to ask your opinion about the date on the amazing half penny I received from @lordmarcovan it was such a generous gift and it is now my oldest dated coin and only coin from the 1700's I am so pleased to have this as a part of my collection and it has a place among my top world coins. Here are two pictures I found online and editied then collaged so you guys could see a good comparison without having to look it up. I think it is 1739 personally. Now some pictures of mine. And some close ups. Thanks, Jacob
Yup, definitely 39. Sweet coin! Not a whole lot happened in 1739, as it turns out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1739
Thanks guys, and yea physics fan I was reading up on 1739 out of curiosity because I now have a coin of that year. Thanks for the link I was on a different site. Thanks, Jacob
Thank you so much LordM I'm really glad you feel that way, sometimes I feel like I don't say enough or say the wrong things when I thank the generous people here on CT. I am unsure of what to say and I'm been stumbling of what to say for the past 25 minutes so I hope whatever I say is enough, (another ten minutes later still haven't figured it out) ok here it goes, thank you so much LordM for everything you have given me good things are surely coming your way, I will pass this tradition of giving down to a new young collector one day myself. Thanks, Jacobs
@Youngcoin - thanks to your magnified photos, I think I see the "tail" of the 9 there, which I didn't see when the coin was in hand. Good! So that mystery is solved!
