I picked this up as part of a larger deal today...it just got thrown in. I know enough abou them to know they were struck in Ireland and found their way to colonial America. What I don't get is my dealer saying something about Martin numbers. If any one of y'all know what is up with those I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, a not too bad coin with some light porosity, which actually looks worse in the pics than in hand, I may have to try another set of shots. IMGP3870.JPG IMGP3871.JPG

Actually struck in England for use in Ireland. They were not popular in Ireland but were pretty heavily used in the American colonies. Syd Martin wrote a book on the coins and the Martin number is the die variety. You would need a copy of Martin's book to determine the variety.

For a throw in it's a great copper. Surfaces don't bother me.
