I thought this was a lovely grade and whilst an expensive coin, it was just about tolerable. This is for my British collection.
Nice coin! I would say that I'm a "Type Collector" when it comes to British coins, but more accurately, I'm a "Person Collector" (One Bust per Person). The Crown was out of my price range for George I so I went with a Shilling, which was still on the high end of what I like to spend. Auction description said: KM539.3, S-3647. MS 63. First bust. Alternating C & SS in angles. Struck with silver supplied by the South Sea Company.
Coin now in hand, arrived Fedex today and looks nothing like the photo. Stunning, blown away by the quality.
A far poorer grade with wear on the hair, cheek and eyebrow with the 16 largely missing from the 1716 just sold for 6500 USD at Baldwins London. So i am very pleased with my purchase from an arcane auction on the European continent.
