1714 gold coin from spain

    Can't rule that out. And we always say you can't know if something is actually original/unmessed with unless you had the coin from day 1 and maybe this is a rare instance where that's the case.

    $2 indicates fake and $2 is a fair price for a good quality fake coin.

    Funny coincidence. About 30 years ago my roommate found a coin in the dormitory hallway where we lived and gave it to me. I'm sure it fell off some girl's bracelet. I have always thought it was probably not a real coin, too. If you look closely at the edge, you can see it is not gold; it is plated. I guessed it was silver. The coincidental part is it's the same coin you have posted.

    my dad brought home a bottle of tarn x and i soaked the coin in it. it was a fake
