20140524_140047.jpg 20140524_140056.jpg It looks gold against this table, but it's silver. Left to me by my grandmother with a bunch of Kennedy silver dollars. Thanks! Lifelong Mass residents.

Not genuine, I'm afraid. This is a well-known design, and people have been making copies of it since before your grandmother was born.

On the other hand, it's "real" in the sense that it's a real object that really belonged to your grandmother, and it has value thanks to that. Keep it! :)

Souvenirs or reproductions of Pine Tree Shillings, Continental Dollars and Bar Cents were exceedingly popular in the late 60's and early 70's with the Bicentennial coming up. And they were not required to be marked as such before the Hobby Protection Act which was passed in 1973. Your grandmother probably just bought something she liked in a shop somewhere as a souvenir. :)

Is a copy. They made quite a few in the 50s to 70s the dead giveaway is that it's cast not struck you can tell by the pebbled surface in spots that has the same surface as cast iron. A cool keepsake but of no value
