Not as good as my last run but that was probably a once in a lifetime find.

    51 40%-ers
    5 1964's
    2 Franklins

Not a bad haul for 90 minutes of work.

I would gladly take those results! Very nice.

Even that's not a bad haul. I'm surprised you found any pre-65 silver. You can't find anything like that around here......too many collectors.

    !

So, you got me very curious and I called my bank yesterday about getting a bag ($1000) of fitycent. They would have to order it and it would take a week to get here (NW USA, hopefully not where you are located). Any suggestions for a noob on the search?

    • One concern is the dump and if they will charge me after once or twice. Do they care much about accepting so many coins?
    • From what you know, do some banks have access to older bags?
    • Are there other ways to get them, I hear you say "box" once.
I asked a mentor about roll searching and he said, "That is as worth while as metal detecting!". Thats my favorite hobby, probably for the same reasons.

    Thanks for your past posts.

I don't see why you can't post this in http://www.cointalk.com/t10176/.

Granted, it's not the bullion forum, but it's better than making several threads on the same topic...

I agree, I'm afraid of parts 4, 5 6, and so on :computer:

I'll give you my advice and then I won't post any more on the subject of half roll searching. Last week I got accused of lying about my findings and this week it seems I've worn out my welcome. If you can't say something nice .... whatever.

Do not take you coins back to the same bank or branch of the bank that you got the coins from. It could cause you to get the same coins back and it's rude. If you don't have another account at another bank then open one. What I do is I deposit at my credit union and withdraw from a Bank of America Branch. When my order comes in at BOA I just cash a check from my credit union account. It was worked well so far. I have not been charged any fees. I can order twice a week. I have a standing order. I live in one of the 12 FRB cities and have no trouble getting a large number of different coins to look through. I bring the bank staff treats from time to time. I have gotten both bags and boxes. Bags are loose coins boxes are 50 rolls of machine wrapped coins.

I hope you change your mind about posting more of your search results. I have enjoyed reading your posts and the fact that some folks are still out there reaping treasure from coins that the general population wants nothing to do with.

To those who may have something negative to say...get real. If you don't like the info don't read the posts.

It's got nothing to do with not wanting to read them. I enjoy reading about his finds, and his second bag was definitely something that deserved it's own thread.

However, repeatedly posting about every bunch he orders in it's own thread is redundant, a drain on forum resources, and makes him come off as a bit of a self-centered egoist, in my humble opinion. You don't see me making threads for every grand I bust open, and there is no point to making a separate thread when something already exists to discuss the topic he speaks of in his threads.

In short, I'm not asking the guy to stop posting, I'm just asking the guy to post where it is appropriate to be posted; in the Roll Searchers thread.

    Thanks Fifty!

I would have never found my new hobby if it wasn't for your post. I doubt it will turn out like your recent finds (bet you have done many 0 boxes) but it sounds like great fun.

The roll searching thread is so noisy with "look what I did" it is hard to get questions answered. If you want and have time....

    • Are boxes or bags better for older coins?
    • Have you been able to specifically order either or just what they get in?

Still have not figured out why the "Bullion board" is so full of angry people. Must be the silver exposure or too many Gold Bug newsletters.

I am no longer posting on the subject of half dollar searching.
I will be happy to address your questions as well as others. Please send me a private message with your questions.

Can you imagine if every single person on the roll-searchers thread instead made a new thread for every find/roll they open? The forum would be flooded and it would make it harder to find other threads. I'm 100% sure the admins would agree that it is redundant and unsustainable if everyone did it.

I fully encourage him to post more of his finds, I like hearing about them. Just it should probably be in the roll-searchers thread.

Ask a question in the roll-searching thread and I'm sure it'll be answered sooner or later... all of my questions in that thread have been answered.

Plain and simple....its jealousy. Who wants to read about someone who found $3000 roll searching. Makes people want to kick themselves for not roll searching more themselves. Instead of "great find!" it's "you lousy bum, get a real job." Or "that isn't worth the time you spend on it." Reminds me of the copper hoarder threads. Many feel it is a waste of time, but when it eventually turns out not to be, do you think the non-hoarders will be saying "yeah, you guys were right, I should of saved my cents, too." Or do you think they will just shrivel up with jealousy?

It was $4k. And I don't hold it against him for finding it, not at all. I think it's awesome and it gives me hope that I may hit some massive paydirt in my searching. I just HATE redundant threads and people posting about mediocre finds in a dedicated thread. His first and third $1500 runs should have been in the roll searchers thread, but his second was certainly deserving of it's own thread.

    Congrats. Nice finds.

From what bank are you getting this bags? Or are you getting boxes? I've had good results, but yours have been unbelievable!!!

Also, I agree with not creating a new thread. Post your results in the Roll Searching thread where there are a bunch of us that regularly report such findings.

Thank you Bob, we all want to hear more of your finds on there :)

And surfer, I didn't get the sense that anyone is jealous at all. Chill out, people really jump to conclusions sometimes.

Anyway, congrats on your finds. It's nice to have fortune shine upon you every once and a while :)

Thanks for clarifying. I was wondering what other appoarch might be another option. I was tickeled with this one, but I lack eticit with this forum due to lack of experience. I hope we get to see parts 4,5,6 and onward on the roll searching thread. I will keep my eyes open.

Keep posting to our original poster. Parts 1,2,&3 were very inspiring.
