Im starting to believe that even you pocket change is deformed in some way. I have some canada cents that were damage before they were sent to brass company to melt. Do those count as the sAme as yours?
The reason the Mint will cancel or aka Waffle the coin is because of some problems they found with the minted coins. It's considered intentional damage. They are not supposed to get into the hands of the public but somehow they do.. many are sent to get slabbed.
1. What are these worth generally? $6-$10? 2. Is one denomination worth more than another? 3. Are readable dates, as with other errors, worth more than those with no identifiable date? 4. Do they waffle proofs? 5. Are there waffled cents?
@JCro57 You will get some different answers on some of your questions from others. Here are my thoughts on cancelled coins - 1. They have a premium, but they shouldn't IMHO 2. From what I have seen the Quarters and Halves are worth more then the Dimes 3. Maybe.. Depends on the collector 4. I have no proof of that 5. I have seen cancelled Cents and Nickels but I don't have any
@JCro57 Here is a neat website I want to share that will find any Mint Error, Variety, Cancelled, Foreign or item for sale or bid that you want - https://picclick.ca/Coins-Paper-Money/Coins-US/?q=waffle
