So perhaps this was an early die-state Proof.</p><p><br /></p><p>A numismatist on Collectors Universe posted this about the 1950 Hybrid-Satin Proof:&nbsp; &quot;There really were no &quot;official&quot; Satin Proofs struck in 1950; and it certainly was not intended.&nbsp; The coins which have that Satin appearance (and they can be found in all the denominations of 1950 Proofs) are apparently the result of inexperience of U.S. Mint workers in Proof blank preparation and striking techniques since 8 years had elapsed since the last Proofs were issued (in 1942).&nbsp; That coupled with over-use of dies resulted in Proof coins which lacked the true brilliance and mirror of a Proof as typically intended.&nbsp; To my knowledge coins with that finish can be found for 1950 along with scattered examples for 1951 and 1952 by which time the workers had evidently figured things out and got things looking more consistent.&quot; </p><p><br /></p><p><img src="https://mindstar.com/cointalk_photos/TVBlack_1950_Linc_PR64RB.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" />[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
