No, they are off center strikes. :smile "Misaligned" (or MAD) is when only one of the dies is off. Yes, I found some of these but not all. Many years ago I walked into my fav local shop and he had a bag of errors sitting on the counter. He told me had just bought them from a woman who used to work at a bank. There was about 20 or so errors in a ziplock....so I made an offer on the lot and he took it. I think it was around $30.
It's very very yellow,, stands out like a sore thumb v. the normal red cents. Is a result of too much Zinc in the plancet bath at the mint. Google "brass plated cent" and you can find all the content you can stand on the variety... or error... or whatever it is.
When you say roll searching, do you mean brand new mint rolls or was this found from coin roll hunting?? If the latter, I wonder if that golden brassy cent was the result of a science experiment, like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_g_ml8tAnWE
Roll hunting by your definition... so yeah, it, along with roughly 10 other BP cents I found back when I was searching a box a week could have all been science experiments... but dang that's a lot of effort for someone to go through to make a BP cent. My guess is still a rich zinc bath from the mint... these have been extensively looked into, and even the mint admits to their creation during the planchet bath process. I've had this one for 10 years or so and still looks the same.... dunno if that's a tell for AT or NT brass plating or not haha.. I'll leave that to the experts out there to decide.
When you do it artficially like that the mint luster will be destroyed. Only genuine BP cents will cartwheel. On baha's cent I can see the cartwheel spokes in the picture, it is definately genuine.
Today's offerings are a NGC MS69RDPL 2002 obv and rev and a PCGS MS69RD 2002D obv and rev. The 2002 is the first year that i have had one receive the Proof Like designation and it currently has a population of 1.
Stunning! To say more would not do the coins justice. Mine is not much, but I didn't want to be left out.
