We now have a system of vastly overpriced degree mills and a flood of graduates for whom there are no jobs in their field, and an employment system that out of laziness screens candidates without a degree for no reason whatsover. Want to be a shift supervisor of 15 people in a call center? HR says you have to have a degree. Why? Because it makes their job easier. But the job doesn't justify 4 years and $20k-$40k of debt.</p><p><br /></p><p>A great many people would be better off if there parents just invested their college money and let them retire in 35 years.
