    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

My degree is in economics from a very old college (founded in the 1700's) in Pennsylvania. Only Keynesianism was presented as a useful paradigm and adhering to its precepts has never steered me wrong, not even once. Monetarism, and supply side, and Austrian School were all presented, taught, and frankly mocked to death by the time we were graduating.

John Maynard Keynes has never steered me wrong. Every economic problem I see, I analyze with the Keynesian filter, and the prescription, when done, always works, whether here or anywhere else. Every time anyplace goes neo-econo-con, and they obsess on sovereign or other debt problems, they go farther down the drain. Then they go off of austerity and recover nicely. Works every time it is tried. See what Japan and Britain have recently done and what the EU and Draghi are just now starting and watch closely.

Turns out sovereign debt is mostly benign. What matters is employment and wage levels. Concern yourself with debt levels and keeping wages down, and watch your economy implode, except at the very top.

You can't allow a concern for keeping interest rates higher to help savers until and unless you have full employment. While there is labor market slack, you need near-zero interest rates to incentivize those with spare funds to apply them to enterprise development, and not low risk savings instruments. I have no sympathy for savers who whine they can't make a return without assuming risk. That's the whole fully intentional point!

Actually, the correctly stated feeling I have when people don't agree with me is "abject sadness about their utter ignorance or misinformed status". Get it right, please.

What do I collect? Wow, it is an eclectic mix of stuff. I'll throw out a quick off the top of my head list, but I know it will be missing some. What I collect depends on what's fashionably hot at any given time. If it's hot and fashionable, I stay away from it like the plague. I collect what seemingly no one wants at any point in time. Right now, I'm into higher grade large cents, 2 centers, nickel 3's, VF-XF rarer Buffalos, nothing silver right now unless its price is disconnected from bullion, such as fully BU Walkers and Standers. You couldn't get me to buy bullion price affected gold or silver right now if you paid me to. I also am working on high quality Swiss 2 rappen, brass British three pence, older silver three pence, and ha'pennies. Full British pre-decimal pennies are too hot, so I stay away. When "nobody" cares about them, then I'll start up again. I buy every U.S. modern commem that "nobody" wants, and avoid all of them that people are waiting in line to buy. The one exception to my general contrarian rule is I like to buy, usually UNslabbed, cameo proofs from the 1950-1970 era.

My general rule is buy the highest quality, regardless if the series is hot or not. And NEVER NEVER NEVER buy anything just to fill an empty hole in an album. Better to let the hole empty than fill it with an inferior coin.

Am I an elitist? No, I just work toward being one. I love elitism. It's what I aspire to. I feel it is what is worth doing. I also feel my government should AFFLICT elitists. I long for the day when I pay confiscatory taxes.

There have been several posts deleted , some for excessive cut/paste which is not allowed, some for off of the subject, some for a "my bill is bigger than your bill" hissy-fit by people who should know better. So lets stop this now. I do not intend to waste more time on such. There are sites specifically to discuss World events, politics, religion and politics, conspiracies, monetary illusions and so forth.
Peter established one to get these discussions off of CT. Take the hint please, I would hate to see people 'gone'. but the forum doesn't have to suffer. Thanks Jim
