According to the book I have on currency on p. 242 of Small Size U. S. Paper Money by Oakes and Schwartz 6th edition. The number of the 20's is 320,000, 640,000 instead of the millions for the star notes from both books. I feel like some of the numbers are a mistake in the printing of the first book. Of the 12 branch banks only 8 had replacement notes. The lowest numbers came from Boston, and New York, and Philadelphia with only 320,000 each. Boston had two series with the same number, New York only had one, Philadelphia had three runs, but only one with 320,000.

When you look at the 9th edition, the break down is different. Some of, but not all of the stars, are printed both in Washington, DC and Fort Worth, TX, so, you need to be aware of this too. Good find. -O)
