For those out there who were disappointed about no United States Postal Service booth at the last 3 ANA conventions (Rosemont, IL all), despair no more. The USPS returns to the ANA bourse floor at Anaheim. I asked show officials in what capacity this would be. Good news - both shipping stuff home from the show (heavy stuff like books or auction catalogs, especially) and souvenir cancels of show "covers", for both of us who care about that stuff.

For the first time since 2012, I'm not scheduled to do a Money Talk at Anaheim, but I am exhibiting for my first time ever. I will have a Money Talk "in the can", alright, in the iPod, in case of a no-show. This is the 125th anniversary of the ANA, Jeff Garrett is President, Kim Kiick is firmly ensconced as E.D., and I think that means it's going to be top-notch and fun. Wait, does that Florida group own rights to that? There's a Tuesday night 125th Anni reception, Wednesday Sundman Lecture luncheon complete with a Legacy Series interview of Sundman himself, a Thursday night Numismatic Literacy Guild Bash, and what promises to be a Friday night Banquet and Silent Auction to remember. (My son and I are doing Disneyland Wednesday night.)

If you're there on Tuesday, opening day, look for me near the registration desk. I'll be in the ANA blue shirt. The rest of my assignments are open, but most of the show I'll be toting a screaming yellow Pelican photo case which will contain (gasp!) my photo gear and cables and junk, not coins so much. If you're staying until Friday, look for the opportunity to get Jamie Franki to sign stuff. Jamie designed the show medal (colorized this year - ugh) and designed the 2005 buffalo nickel reverse and the 2006-date Jefferson nickel obverse. He is generous with his time and pen.

This is my son's first trip west of a line drawn through Rosemont, IL and Huntsville, AL, and he's going to get the whole southwest desert experience up close. After the show closes Saturday, August 13, we head to Burbank for the night, then on Sunday, it's Warner Brothers studio tour, the Dodgers and Pirates, and crawl aboard the Amtrak Sunset Limited for a 48 hour trip to see a lot of where that wall might be going up someday. We end up in 'Nawlins' where I will touch the ground in my 49th state of visitation. Only Alaska awaits. (Flyovers don't count, only boots on the ground.)
