Golly gee gosh darn (those weren't my actual words) on closer examination, I find that the green seal and serial numbers have been chemically removed. Now I have to go through the hassle of getting a refund. This same company, Golden Eagle Coins, has now informed me that the consigner lost the experimental $1 note, so they refunded that. Has anyone else had dealings with this company? I'd be interested in hearing their experience. As for me, I won't be doing business with them again.
Sorry to hear @Mountain Man...we all learn together. I’ve never heard of Golden Eagle Coin, and if you would like recommendations for trusted paper money dealers, just let me know and I’ll hook you up.
Denly's of Boston & Executive Currency with Fred Bart at the helm would be two top notch companies IMHO.
Denly’s and Executive are good sources. I like a number of dealers, ADP currency, https://apdcurrency.com/ and I‘ve used Allen’s, http://www.allensinc.com/coins/currency/small_type_currency_2.htm and Robert Azpiazu, http://www.fstctycurr.com/ and don’t forget Scott Lindquist, https://scottlindquist.com/ . When I shop on eBay, I trust One Dollar Bill and others. But most importantly, when you figure out what you want and how much you’re willing to spend, start your research, check pricing, check recent SOLD auctions for current trends and stay away from bargain priced problem notes.
Thanks to all of you that have sent me links, advice, and comments. This was obviously one that had to be held in hand to determine authenticity. Live and learn.
Here I was imagining "mules" was a technical term like "radar"... and that someone hadn't caught up with ... the three available printings.
Glad you were able to determine that. I can see it on one of those photos. So sorry that happened to you and best wishes on getting a well deserved refund.
