I'm looking to buy one of these because I like them, however I have a couple of questions. The prem. on these are ridiculous. Is this going to be a yearly series from the RCM? If so will the design change every year?

What's your opinion on this coin's potential other than it being tied to spot?

    thanks

I didn't buy one because the last few tubes of Canadian silver ended up with milk spots.

    I pass.

I ordered this coin from APMEX and it arrived with a bunch of nicks and scratches on it, so I returned it. They could not guarantee a coin without them.

I have never had much luck with Canadian bullion from a quality/appearance standpoint. Their specialty coins tend to be much nicer, but also much more expensive.

I don't think you will be missing anything by passing on this coin. They are easy to find and the asking price for these is actually lower than when they first were released.

I would agree with Big Tee and wait for the "next big thing."

I wouldn't mind the inflated premium so much, if the quality was there. However, Canadian bullion has always been pretty "iffy" in this regard from my experience.

I'd pass on this one, it's only potential is down. If you like polar bears just tear a picture of one out of a magazine and save your money to buy low premium, better quality Ag.

I picked one up at my local coin shop a couple months ago. I noticed that it had developed some spots about two weeks ago. I asked the shop if they had this happen to others they has sold. They said no and offered to exchange it for me. The one I have now is spot free. I hope it stays that way. I did pay a premium but I like the coin so I'm not worried about it.

I bought a few off ebay and to me they are nothing special either. Shoot me a PM if you want to buy or trade for one. More then one I would save your time and money.

So than I got everyone opinion of the coin which is good, but my other question is this a yearly series, a one time offer, if it is yearly will the design change?

I believe it is a one time offer. There are now 2 version of this 1.5 oz. The first version is the bullion version which will eventually develop milk spot. It was originally commissioned by one of the u.s distribution company. RCM recently released a proof version this month which will not develop milk spot but it will cost considerably more.

They also have the proof set of the silver and gold coin: http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/polar-bear-2coin-set-mintage-7500-2013-prod1720005#.UopCsuJvSRM

Again, the bullion version will have milk spot but the proof version will not

YouTube has a couple videos on getting rid of milk spots on your coins. The soft eraser example seems to work the best IMO.

I have tried the eraser method on a "cheap" coin and used a new clean eraser and it left permanent marks on the coin.
