Found this in a parking lot and wonder why it exists. Marked “1/4 OZ Fe” in two places.

Value as "bullion"? A tiny fraction of a cent.

Value as a charm against the fae? Priceless.

Probably from a high school chemistry class.

Looks like it was an Element Ingot Tile made for physical periodic table.

Too bad it’s not “1/4 OZ Au”!

Yes, and there appear to be several mint errors on it.

Now I suppose my next logical question is why/how such a relatively tiny weight makes a difference when balancing a big wheel?

    Ain't this the greatest site?

They're normally only a little out of balance, I'd guess...?

I'd only heard of lead wheel weights. I'm glad they're using something a little more environmentally friendly, I guess, but I wonder how well they'll hold up against road salt and everything.

I see that you can also get zinc weights, which would offer galvanic protection as well as balancing, but would lose weight over time as they did the galvanic-protection job...

It keeps the tire from wearing the tread down in an odd pattern.
