I have a dollar bill with the seal looks strange and the writing on the bill I believe is from the mint. Can anyone tell me what this is worth? Thanks Big Ed
It's worth one dollar. The "error" is faked. The mint doesn't make paper money. That writing was not part of the printing process, but was added after the bill entered circulation.
Hello rickmp Are you saying that someone erased the seal from one side and added it to the other side? thanks Big Ed
Yes I am. Among other things that prove this "error" a fake: See those 4 black 6s in the corners? If the seal was printed that way by the BEP, those would be 9s.
What Rick said. They are supposed to be 6 to match the F. The seal and those 6s (among other things) are printed at the same time, proving that your "error" is a fake. Accept it. Then spend it.
The Mint only produces coins, medals and such. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D. C. is the only entity that prints our currency.
Agreed. Definitely fake. You can even see where the original seal was removed. That black smudge is what is left of it.
Yes, they do. We've toured the facility with our scouts. http://www.moneyfactory.gov/tours/fortworthtxtours.html I have a $5 FW bill in my wallet right now...
UH, yes, they do print money at the Fort Worth Facility. You'll see FW in the lower corner of the faces of those notes printed there. Dallas has the Federal Reserve Bank.
Thanks everyone. This bill was found in a vending machine. No big lost ($1.00). Weird that someone took the time to do this to a dollar bill. Thanks Big ed
No was not a big deal. That's why I posted it. If you had the dollar bill you would have a different opinion about it.
