Seller has agreed to refund 100% of my costs, a great guy, he was real good with the whole thing, even gave permission to remove from holder for the submission, as well as extend the timeframe for refund. original auction link below, remember this seller, he is one of the good guys and deserves recognition as such: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170170678582&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=007

New to CoinTalk, also comments on Jacks 1909-s I am a new member to CoinTalk as of tonight, Jack told me about CoinTalk so I came over and checked it out. I am the person that sold him the 1909-s cent on ebay that ICG deemed to be counterfeit. The story behind this coin is I bought a large collection of coins from someone (on ebay) last Aug. or Sept. that included everything from the 1909-s cents through a Delaware Commem, rolled cents, silver bullion etc. and everything in between. This lot contained 4 1909-S of which the only one I sold was the 1909-s Jack received, I still have the other three 09-s that I was hoping to put away for another day, I will now send those into ANACS for verification. I sold about half of the collection and got my purchase price back for the lot. 2 of the better coins I bought in this lot were sent in by other people and all returned as real except for this one. Needless to say I was shocked when Jack gave me the news that this coin was a counterfeit. It was beyond my scope as a coin collector to identify this coin as a fake even though I have been collecting coins ever since my grandmother gave me some indian head pennies back in the 1960's when I was 8 years old. This was a real eye opener for me. I have read many posts on this site tonight and have found it all very interesting. I hope to be a regular contributor. Thank you Jack for the tip to join CoinTalk, I will let you know when the 1909-s arrives back to me and will refund all your expenses promptly. John Hunter
Glad to have you John! You still have a great coin, even though its fake--some people will pay nice money for fake coins for them to study. Good luck!! Speedy
Weird. Anacs next? I would think ICG would be able to slab it, but you never really know. BTW AJ, what coin is that in your avatar? Sure is purty. Phoenix
Nobody will slab a counterfeit Phoenix, ANACS will grade many of the problem coins that the others will not, such as cleaning, rim dings etc... My avatar is the reverse of an 09-VDB I picked up last week ( and kept)
Oh, that's the counterfeit. :headbang: Sorry. Okay, sorry about that. :headbang: Sweet, looks pretty nice. What grade is it if you don't mind me asking? Looks to have some real nice luster to it. :thumb: Phoenix
John, Bravo, bravo! Please provide a link to your auctions, so I might paruse them. I like buying from people who stand behind their coins and do the right thing. Thank you...Mike
Keep that BB! Most people just trash them....people who collect slabs, and BB will pay money for those and sometimes there are "rare varieties" of BB's that people hunt! I know it sounds odd but I have 2 sitting here that I may put on ebay. Speedy
