When you ask a clerk in a store 'How much is this' ... the answer usually follows like this: It is four dollars and 50 cents .... NOT, four dollars and 50 pennies .... makes cents to me. LOL
Ah, but his response refers to Value, not the Names of the coins he'll accept. The 50 cents part can be one Half Dollar, two Quarters, ten Nickles, fifty Pennies, five Dimes, or any combination of coins whose value adds to fifty cents.This brings up an interesting question, not directly related to this post or thread... How many ways can modern US coins be combined to add up to 50 Cents?
