Wasn't PCI actually fairly legitimate at some point in the past?

Why would you not break those out and submit those raw? It's cheaper, they get a better look at it, and most of those slabs mean nothing anyways

It is amazing to me how they do come up with coin(s) hard or appears to be impossible to find in the grade or condition they are in as well as the number they have. I would also feel confident buying from them not having the concern for purchasing something counterfeit

These Franklins were likely “graded” by IGS, Independent Grading Services. These coins aren’t truly 70 coins, as IGS is a holder company…not a grading company. To hold them in the same light as a PCGS or NGC, is way off.

Yes they were (as was Hallmark before their equipment was sold to PCI).
@Insider was there at one point too and has often mentioned how dealers would brag about cracking the red problem PCI holders and getting straight grades (PCI was fairly conservative when it came to giving details grades at that time).

I've taken hundreds of coins purchased over the period that the TPG have existed from various "slabbers/TPG", and submitted to NGC and PCGS through various well experienced "Dealers".

The majority graded, but I stopped when NGC was missing the grade-indicators that were self evident to experienced collectors, and returning the coins as "detailed", or unworthy of a grade.

In fairness, when I spent the appreciable additional funds to resubmit through a known NGC Dealer associate, they changed.

The associate explained over the phone their believed "short-coming", but they still missed things like "full bands", as their definitions may vary from the general industry.

I hated selling Type I better date Double Eagles at virtually melt, but my associates loved them as raw coins when removed from the detail slabs.

Buying "sight-seen" NGC/PCGS certified coins is far more practical than submitting raw.

I believe you'd be surprised if you removed the coins from the premium TPG slabs, submitting to their competition.

I reported one incident here in the past, which caused a "stir", with a statement that wouldn't happen by a prominent TPG.

I do the same while watching Ricks' show, and generally can't locate the same or better offer on the internet.

We may be watching 2 different shows, as I'm primarily only interested in scarce date certified Gold, having greater trust in Rick, than the internet.

I believe he is very factually educational with his dates and comparisons.

I'd place odds that his offerings aren't COPY material.

I watch a small portion of the other shows, believing you're correct.
