If you are new to collecting, I'd stick to coins graded by the top four grading services...PCGS, NGC, ICG, and ANACS. eBay and local coin dealers...
NGC will "detail" grade a coin for wheel marks.
MS-62
Wow, nice coin!
Looks like a die chip on the date, not a struck through. I didn't know that Wheat cents had plating bubbles. :p
Nice find!
Can't grade accurately from these pics. AU-55 - 58 sounds right.
Yep, that's damage on the reverse. Can you post a better pic of the Obverse, specifically the right obverse field?
AT/QT.
Nice coin! My guess would have been 65RB.
It's a struck through grease error.
I agree, looks like a ragged clip to me. Will wait for the weight. (no pun intended :D)
Die deterioration, not a doubled die.
@sunday13 Not really a worn die...the missing letters were caused by struck through grease/grit between the die and coin.
PMD (post minting damage) not an error. Welcome to CT!
Impossible. The Memorial reverse started in 1959.
MS-63
It really depends on which design you prefer. Of course, I'm biased here. :D Welcome to CT!
PMD (post minting damage) not an error.
Struck through grease.
Separate names with a comma.
