That's Mechanical Doubling on the reverse. Not a doubled die, and not considered an error. More of a minor anomaly in the minting process, but...

Not an error - that 'shrapnel' piece is probably part of the badly environmentally damaged surface event - it looks like it was over the damaged...
Since we weren't there when it was flattened, we can't tell 100% exactly how, but it doesn't matter, imo. Probably put in a vise - but who cares ?

They're really not laminations - NGC got that one wrong. They are copper plating bubbles or blisters...has nothing to do with metal mixture...
