To the right of the D, you could see what I was seeing. The bottom of the S follows from the base of the D, curves out, the meet again at the top...
I see. It was a combination of dirt, and that phenomena in which you see something in a similarly shaped area!

I believe with the texture on the inside, and the fact the rim is pushed in (Instead of completely missing in the spot), that it is indeed PMD.
