True to some extent, but if you look at an Athenian tetradrachm, they rarely have more than one "test mark" because the previous test mark...
In circulation, take out all silver coins (before 1965) and 5 franc coins. They are worth a premium over face/bullion.
Only if you do it on an unciruclated coin it will look natural. If you look at that coin, it has wear on its surfaces, so it looks really odd.

They are not cleaned, just a bit bagmarked, nicked,dirty etc. This sadly prevents them from getting MS grades if you decide to have them graded.
