Speak of the devil! For your photography, how do you make sure that they end up the same size?
I buy coins off of eBay maybe once or twice a month. I've never sold things though. I have heard that now eBay is much better at resolving...
I'm pretty sure it's plated gold. Then again, they usually plate gold on both sides of the coin.
I'd say after all the rubbing and marking it's worth only a tad over face value. Then again, I don't collect bills so what would I know?...

There also seems to be damage on the surface of the coin (3 different spots) to the east of liberty's arm. One of them seems pretty deep.
