Might be dust/glue i gave it a few minutes in some warm water and the color appears to be more of a brown.
The cheek still shows some type of rub/wear overall color appears to me more brownish for the penny.
I'll soak the coin for a little while in some warm water.
Well the coins must have been sitting in the folders for years, would dust etc. do anything to the coin? Would you suggest a rinse?
Is there a possibility its just wear on the cheek?

I picked up a 1941-D AU55 FB Mercury Dime. I wasn't aware of lower grades receiving a FB. I can't wait to see the coin in hand.
My dime came in the mail today im VERY happy with the toning.
