Looks post mint damage. If it were a dropped letter it would be incuse so let's rule that out. Anyone got a way of overlaying a 'D' mint mark...
The mint considers cracks as normal. Vam uses them as markers.
It could be a die gouge, some other damage to the die. It's not a crack.
I use two lights, one each side of the coin and macro. It works great.
It's common die deterioration doubling.
