DDD. The 3 is in the correct position, but looks like it was scuffed, perhaps by a coin wrapping maching.
It could be struck through foil-like material but I doubt it. If you start to peel it off, you should be able to tell if it was actually struck...
I'd say AU53.
Looking at the letters UNITED, there is a line going across them that is pushed in. The letters are a low part of the die, so how could this...
It has the weak strike on the rim directly across from the clip, so it might be real. I am not an expert though.
Read through the commas ;-P
Thanks for the quick replies. We might have saved someone $499.99.
I think this might be a Wide AM taken at a deceptive angle. What do you guys say? It's a good deal, but the pic sucks. Someone here who is...
Interesting. I was going to dismiss it until I saw the split 5 in the last pic. Too bad they don't zoom in any so I can't say anything for sure.
Please put this pic back up; I'd love to see it.
Looks AU-BU, but re-plated which ruins it.
Yeah there are at least a dozen D mint mark coins known and this is only the 2nd Philly coin so it is going to be much more valuable. BTW the coin...
Bump so maybe the mods can fix the topic title. Also, please explain why it is fake. I see how it could be a double strike (not a doubled die)...
How do you do a press job that only affects the fields, and not the letters or any part of the raised design? It is obviously real.
What's with the bottom of the 2 in the date? It's a little shorter than normal. Die damage? Is the other known coin like that as well?
Wow a 92 P close AM! That is a hell of a find. I do look forward to seeing pics.
Looks like a low XF, but is that a scratch on the right of the obverse?
Looks like a great coin to me, but I don't think it would quite make AU55 if you slabbed it. Still, thanks for sharing this rare coin with us!
Horrible pics. I wouldn't buy an MS coin unless the pics clearly show it. Especially one over $1000!!! And what's with the scratches above the date?
It looks like die cracks and I don't see a cud. It's probably worth a couple bucks on ebay. I'm not an expert, so don't sell it until someone...
Separate names with a comma.
