Humm, makes you want to think it's a die chip not a class 8. Interesting to look at. Maybe larger photo's will help.
A die crack would be above the surface on a coin, so would a bubble under the plating.

Wouldn't it be cool if this was a small date as well. Also on most clips the Blakesley effect is noticed opposite the clip, I don't see it.
I'm not saying it isn't a clip, I just can't see it clear enough. Pictures of different angles of the clip and the area opposite the clip....
It is a planchet. Now whether it's a clipped planchet I can't tell from your picture.
