The most I've ever spent on any coin was $35 :) It was a Morgan dollar. Yesterday I almost spent more on a coin book though ($34).
If those were worth more than a cent I would be a millionaire by now!

how about the 1943 steel cent? The design didn't change but the look sure did.
I find coins in circulation (mainly silver), sell them for a premium, and buy older coins with that money. This way, I can't really lose money.

Here's mine. The front has the flag on it, along with the date, stars, and "In God We Trust". The reverse has 5 cents, with the mint mark below...

looks genuine, and is a hard date to find in circulation. The oldest penny I've found in circulation is 1910 in G-4...worth about $.35 :(
