I couldn't agree more. Why sell silver at X% of melt (I doubt you will get 100% of whatever current melt rate is), and then buy different silver...
That looks like a repunched mint mark, not a repunched date. But we'd have to see the whole coin to tell.

This wouldn't be the best example, as it's been dipped, but it's mine, and other than subdued luster, it's pretty much what it's supposed to look...
To me, the surfaces look like something was done to this coin. It is a very common look to this particular seller's (who shall remain nameless)...

To be clear, purchase of all US coins for numismatic purposes are tax exempt. Bullion isn't, and never was coinage, and wouldn't be a numismatic...
Keep in mind numismatics are tax exempt in Florida, with or without a resale cert.
