Based on markings on the rear- toning at 3:00, 9:00 and the dot below the C- I would say they are the same coin Richard

Copper and Zinc planchets are still given away by the mint every year so ther isn't a huge premium associated withe them
Yes, this coin was soaked in acid which ate the softer copper core faster than the copper-nickel faces
More likely it was encased in a "lucky coin" type token where the outer ring is compressed around the coin
