I agree,It's glue or some sort of dried soda/beer on the coin.
According to the Secretary of the Treasury the nickel can't have a weight variance more or less than .194 gram. So that's a pretty heavy nickel.
So shouldn't that be less than 90? I'm just trying to figure this rotation thing out.
I agree that my original assumption was wrong, But I see now the rotation is short of 90. I'm still curious of the 100.

It's under 20 degree rotation, So I'd place it around the $10 mark,But you can post on ebay and see what you get. Best of luck!
Are both 1988's? If not that might be the difference. Although most designs remained about the same. Each year has a small change in the die....

NP, What I do is take my pics of the coin on a plain white sheet of paper. To me it helps reduce the glare. Just my 2 cents and keep the search going!
