Try avoiding dealers who hype up alot, the honest ones who'll give you give coins at fair prices don't need to advertise "gold" or "silver"...
$2 ea? ouch. Usually for $2 you should be getting much better quality pieces.
I'm pretty sure in the past 10 years it's changed hands at least 3 times.
Though it's usually believed to be the shekel, we don't really know for sure.
I find it odd that the 5c is going to be a brass piece, usually not a good sign...

Your local dealer may not care for world coins, and may simply want to just discount them (in this case below melt) to get rid of them.
