Boxes of halves where I live are yellow and white. I think it's all about what ever color the bank chooses.
I've found 2 electroplated quarters. I've kept them just because there interesting. And hey if you keep your half your only hanging on to fifty...

I save anything pre 1960. They sell for two times face value if not more in eBay.
I have 2 dump locations and usually dump about 1k at a time. Never had any problems plus carrying all you have at one might be a little to heave...
