It's a wonderful coin but the large depression in the field and the bust on the obverse and the scratches on the reverse above the eagles head...
My guess at that grade is that those are die polish lines which made the coin almost proof like, hence the star.

It actually looks like the Y in LIBERTY and the date are the most unlikely areas to see the doubling.
