The obverse appears a bit weakly struck (although photo is also a bit blurry), but attractive toning and eye appeal. I would give it an MS-64*.
Based on a look at the 1879-S and 1879-O in the pictures, I would say they could be AU or even uncirculated. It is difficult to tell with pictures...
Nice CC Morgan. While it is always difficult to grade based on photographs, it appears that this was conservatively graded. I likely would have...
I have had two recent orders with APMEX and have no complaints. I received what I ordered in a timely manner with no surprises.
I would also say MS-63 due to scratches on neck and in field. Still a very nice coin for a Peace dollar.
I have always thought that the obverse of the Peace dollar was one of the ugliest designs for US coins. The muddled design makes Liberty appear to...
Ditto!
The Morgan has an excellent design of the obverse and reverse with many details and is an overall interesting coin. The Peace obverse has no...
I also agree with the above post that the detail grade would be XF. However, it appears to have been cleaned or otherwise inappropriately handled....
I would say it has a shot at AU-50, but XF-45 would be a conservative grade for it. New Orleans Morgans are sometimes hard to grade since they are...
The NGC dime has much better eye appeal. I would take it.
There are a few too many bagmarks/cuts in Liberty's cheek for it to be MS63. I agree that there is no wear. I would say MS62.
Another interesting choice for next year. If only I wasn't trying to get the 1894 and 1893-S for my Morgan Dollar set!
A good instructive post. Thanks!
Thanks for the post and the good information in it!
I would say AU for both
There appears to be slight amounts of wear on Liberty's hair above the forehead and on the eagle's head. It is only a slight amount of wear so I...
I would say about $1200 - $1500 or so (depends on how big the + is). These can be hard to find so take it if you get a good deal.
The obverse of the peace dollar is just ugly. I do like the eagle on the reverse. I have always thought that the obverse of the Morgan is...
I would give it an MS-62. Too many marks on the face for a 63
