It appears to me to be streaks from the cleaning the planchet gets before striking. See what others say.
Post mint damage for sure. Also the comment was made that there is no hole in the R of PLURIBUS so it is not a Henning. Keep in mind that...
Did you weigh the dime? A coin missing one clad layer should be under weight. If it is missing both clad layers then it should be very under...
I have been searching nickels for years and keep everything 1958 and back. I sort them into tubes and when a tube is full I roll it in a paper...
Your 1966 does appear to be a cud. Your 1955 S would be better called a chippy 9 instead of a cuddy 9. Cuds affect the edge of a coin. Nice finds!
Who is responsible for removing the coins? I don't think it is the mint. Maybe the Federal Reserve? Does anyone have experience with this? I...
I don't think the mint ever melted coins. Dealers send bulk silver coins to smelters and not the mint.
I think you will find the ridge at the top through the letters is common on the copper plated zinc cents and is caused by die wear.
I think you did well because I don't think this is a capped die. I think this is a brockage struck thru a capped die.
Hi Krista, I just noticed that I had a message. Sorry this took so long. My personal recommendation would be Mike Steinmetz at Steinmetz Coins...
This looks like a relative of the 1913 Liberty Nickel.
I did think about putting them on ebay but when I looked at the time I saw some copper lots but they weren't getting any bids. I needed the cash...
I can see it better here. I now see it's a D mint (isn't it?). The only thing I notice is the finning around the rim from about 11:00 to 3:00....
The photo is a little dark but I don't see anything out of the ordinary for a proof coin other than the hairlines. What am I missing? Can you be...
I recently dumped mine. I bought several nice York PA obsolete notes in the last Schingoethe sale and used my stash to help pay for them. I used...
So, you tricked us. Out of curiosity, how can you tell if it is a wide AM? The cheerios holder is not see thru so you cannot see the reverse of...
I don't quite understand your question. The pic show a coin in a standard 2 x 2 holder and not in the original cheerios packaging. How do you...
OK, I'm with you now. Where are you getting the coins you are showing us? Why do you think they have value?
What do you mean by listing?
This just looks like a regular worn 1970 S that has been damaged (the rings) on both sides by a coin wrapping machine.
