This is a new find, just announced this morning. Now, to break out my metal detector and see what they missed.
If there is a slight 'upset' to the rim, it is a type two. If the planchet looks flat and even around the 'edge' then it is a type one.
Nope, the government did not "recall" the 1943 steel cents. They circulated well into the 1960's. And the government would not dump them in the ocean.
