Yes they are both thalers - as indicated by EIN.
They are Prussian thalers - first one is KM #471. Value is about $50 according to Krause. Second one is KM #419. Value listed as $90.
I don't think it's mechanical doubling - looks like an RPM to me. New ones are found all the time. There are quite a few listed on CONECA for this...
