The only time I remember the Treasury doing this was when I was a boy in single digits. The Treasury asked people to bring coins into their banks...
The mint’s price structure is well above spot but pre 1933 coins are much closer to spot. That’s makes it easier to recover what you paid for them.
And it’s now under $72.00. Enjoy the ride but don’t panic.
