The best I can figure, the "S" is normal, but the "2" has a die chip and the die cracks.
If you are talking general circulated coins, all of 1981's are copper and about 1/2 of the 1982 are also.

Nothing I am aware of, excluding varieties, D/D's, etc., is rare as a general date. There are conditional rarities, however.
