I would also like to add, if you have the extra cash, the proof mercury dime is one of the more affordable classic coin proof issues.
It's nearly impossible to confuse the proof from business strikes. Some things, as mentioned, come with looking at tons of coins.
Makes sense as I've seen several British and European coins enameled in this fashion. Some are done exceptionally well.
