The cost to conserve will outweigh the value of the coin many times over. You can try a little acetone, not mail polish remover, but pure acetone.
They lower the value.
Pure gold is not affected by salt water. It’s the other metals in hold that are, like copper and iron. They cause the gold to tone or discolor.
