Thanks, Catbert! I actually figured out the avatar thing about 2 days ago.. day late and a dollar short, as usual!
What is the most recent date in the hoard?
What I like about your dime is that no one has cleaned it- it has that nice original gray color that comes from honest use and being LEFT ALONE...
That should help with those pesky half dimes that are always tilted inside the foam insert! Great idea.
the doubling is very apparent, and the clash is really strong- I can almost read 'Liberty' if I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing (in reverse)
I was eyeing that bust dime on the BST forum-- a really nice looking coin-- glad to see Lee got it.
I visit CU and CT everyday, and enjoy both. There are very knowledgeable people on both forums, but I prefer CT for its more relaxed feeling. PCGS...
I agree with BQ- coin is bright white from cleaning/dipping and has dings in prime focal areas. I know I would not be happy with it at any price....
$7? What a find! I'd keep it out of plastic, at least for now, and enjoy it up close. As to grading- I just don't think it quite makes Fine...
That's another attractive scarcity, Eduard! I think it's VF- about 20- a very nice example, imho. Nice patina.
I don't think of myself as a Morgan collector, but what US coin collector doesn't have a few? (waiting for the copperheads to chime in, LOL) Most...
Congrats on completing the type set! I'd love to see you do a photo album of it. I was considering going to the show, as I live 2 hours away,...
I'm really surprised they tagged it as AU58, I don't see any wear.. anywhere! A very nice looking coin, with the woodgrain obv and rainbow rev.
Thanks, Rusty, I just today figured how the avatar thingy works (d'oh!) My Isabella is NGC AU58; in retrospect, I think it was dipped and...
Very nicely done, and the photos are a big help! Here is a link to Halperin's page on his take on the strike quality of various years in the...
I'll add the link to the thread I started about a week ago about the (underappreciated) no-stars design: http://www.cointalk.com/forum/t56020/
I would call it 'conserved' rather than 'cleaned.' I don't see any damage from the dirt removal. It looks like your technique is very refined, Boss.
I see light rub on nostril, jaw, hair bun, leaf tips- the high points- so I say AU58. Beautiful! I believe PCGS gave it MS63.
I am having a hard time spotting light rub on this coin- endemic to the series! If there is luster on the head, bust, thigh and reverse leaf ends-...
OK, I'll guess MS64br on the first, MS63rb on the second.
