My first thought was also the hole it stood out and did not look right for the age of the coin. My opinion only.

Place the whole thing in a cover with non PVC and place it where ever you want, it's a keeper in my opinion.
That is a normal weight for a copper over zinc penny from 1982 and after. Copper 3.1 weight was also produced in 1982. My opinion
